Linkyo Chalkboard Markers Part 2

The 10pk Linkyo Chalkboard Markers are just as fun as the 20pk, but better if you only need a few. Bright fun colors. They mark on nonporous surfaces and wipe off easily. The kids mark all over the windows and the sliding glass door in our house. They don't have a smell so it makes it a little better to use than expo markers, which I think stink. I did recieve mine free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Linkyo Chalkboard Markers

These chalk markers are so cool. Easy to use, you prime them like a paint pen then go to town. It says works on any nonporous surface. My kids play with them on our sliding glass door. The gold was a bit more of a booger to wipe off though. The rest came off with a rag. I was hesitant to use on my chalk board calander. It says that's more for permanent on that surface. However it comes off fine with some water added. So it was nice to use these on our calander too. I got these free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Eucalyptus Oil

I know essential oils are all the rave now days and it's a competition on who has the best. In reality a lot of it is marketing and jacks the price up on them because of it. Was excited to try out this one though. Eucalyptus has some great benifits. It is cold season after all so I put some in a roller with fractioned coconut oil so I could rub it on chests and feet to help stuffy noses around the house. Worked very well. I also made some shower bombs with it. You mix baking soda and a tiny bit of water, enough for a thick paste, and a few drops of this. You then place in an ice cube tray and let dry. When you shower throw one in the bottom and the water and heat from your shower releases it and gives you an amazing shower experiance. I had no issues with this product and worked just as well as the more popular brands for a lot less money. I recieved mine free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Essential oil Diffuser

Great little diffuser. My favorite feature us that it automatically shuts off when it gets empty. As a busy mom this is a great feature.

It puts out a cool mist with just a great amount of oil. The light can stay on steady ir it can rotate through all the colors. I also like that I can keep the mist on or put it on the setting that it goes on and off. I find it makes a good start for a night light. I can turn the light on without the mist and it will stay on all night for the kids incase they need to see downstairs. Sometimes I let the kids pick their color for the night or I just let it rotate them all.

This has been working real well for me. Also if it gets knocked over it shuts off as well. Another plus of you have kids or maybe a rotten cat that likes to knock things over. Was really impressed with this difusser.

These Shoes Are Made For Walking

Do you ever just stop and look down at your shoes?

I went on a small trip to see the Harlem Globetrotters. I am, and never have been, one to like wearing shoes. I can handle flip flops or going barefoot with no issues. Well it is winter so that means I had to wear 'real shoes'. This means hot feet that hurt. So as I'm sitting in a parking lot waiting for the car to warm up I take a look at my shoes.

What came to my mind? I just instantly thought of how many years I have had this pair of shoes. I began thinking of all the times I wore them and where all they have been. Though I am not a fan of wearing them, my shoes have been to lots of places. They have gotten me through some pain. From slipping them on quickly, with no time for socks, and running out the door. They have been there to slip over swollen feet from carrying two babies, as well as to go to the hospital to meet them. They carried those babies into their home for the first time, and many times after.

I find it amusing how something I really could careless about has been such a big part of my life memories that I would have never expected to carry. Maybe this is the real reason women have a shoe fetish?

I finally stopped day dreaming about my shoes and headed home. When I got home my daughter informed me the heel on her boot had fallen off. Another pair of shoes to carry a funny memory of her walking funny into the house with one heel on and one heel off.

Take time to stop and think about what your shoes tell you.

The Pilgrim Adventure

Funtastic Unit Studies has some great books. They are fun and engaging for children. I have reviewed from them before so I was very excited to see another product by them.

Our American Series is a set of six books that tell the stories of people through history in different times.  The series is a good fit for kids ages ten to thirteen.

The book we used was the first of the series,  The Pilgrim Adventure. The book is about twins,  Finn and Ginny, traveling back in time to the Mayflower. They are off on their time travels to find their patents that got stuck in time.  The twins help participate in the making of history.  The book is true events that are turned into the story that the twins are witnessing.  they go through several events including the Oregon Trail and the Civil War.

My daughter that read the book is 11. She has a hard time getting into facts about history and blocks it out. I was very happy to have a fact based story to being history alive to her in a way she could relate. It was no different than reading any other adventure book, except the fact you are learning true events!! Learning doesn't get much better than that.

The books also come with free activity sheets. I also think if you used this book as a read aloud younger children could go along with the story as well. It prompted great conversation. They were saddened by hearing that the pilgrims came with no food and we're hungry. But the sharing of the Indians made them think of sharing our meals with others.

I did recieve this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I am excited to buy the other books for my daughter to read as well.

Homeschooling Tip

One of the best things about homeschooling is that you can set your own schedual. This means you can let your kids get the sleep they need. Be it they were up to late because of a parent working late or even just a full day, they can sleep in and catch back up. Kids and teens need 10-12 hours of sleep a night!

So don't feel bad that you are not up and starting school at 8am like traditional school. Happy rested kids concentrate better and have a better attitude towards learning.

I'll be honest, sometimes we have started school just before dinner and finished after dinner. My kids have always done better if I let them get their energy out during the day.

Nursing Cover Review

Not everyone wants to use a cover to breastfeed, but if you do check this one out. Many are not very covering and others you can't see baby to latch them on. This one goes over your lap and it stays put so you can see your baby. Comes with a super soft 100% cotton baby blanket and a rubber bracelet to keep track of the time you fed last. I never was one to cover up but in the winter it gets pretty cold here and even in resturnats it's cold sometimes. This helps actually keeps us warmer and less bulk of a blanket. Not to mention I'm a large breast woman and have to hold my breast for baby and other covers never stayed pushed out allowing me to see what was going on under them. I really like this one. Plus a little Terry cloth in the corner is great for drool or spit up. I recieved this free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
