Fancy Mobility

Being a mom of many kids I think it is pretty good to assume my van is a mess. Even just to go to the store, since we live an hour away, we have to make sure everyone has a drink. Then we have diapers and extra clothes for the baby. Then we need things to entertain the kids since the drive is so long. Ya, you get the picture. It is a never ending list of things we always need in the van. Then all the things that get left in the van and forgot and end up rolling around in the floor until someone needs it again...those times you pray that said item is still even usable.
Well I have given the honor to try out #fancymobility's visor organizer and back seat organizer. The visor organizer has a pocket that fits my cell phone perfect. It is mesh so I can see who a call is from or even put on speaker and talk hands free.
The backseat organizer is being used by my daughter. She puts her charger for her phone in it. She has a spot that has her drink and then a few things to keep the babies entertained, like extra pacifier and toys. My only wish is that I had one for each seat and kid so they all had a holder for everything.
So be sure to check them out...

Simply Earth Lemon Oil

Simply Earth Lemon Oil is wonderful. Such a pleasant and lasting scent? Seems to hols up just as well as other brands. Best thing is they donate a portion of their profits to charity. Not many companies do that. Plus they are a personal business, not a huge corporation so you can expect better and more personal service from them. My first bottle was lost in the mail and they quickly replaced it for me with no issues. Check them out as well as their other oils...

A wonderful Baby Carrier

If you are in the market for a new baby carrier you must read on.
This carrier is good for babies and toddlers.
Very soft material. The stitching and embroidery are beautiful. The shoulder straps have super soft padding but nit so much that it feels bulky. One added feature I love that isn't on my other, of a different brand, is that there is a padded strip just behind where babies head is. This also would be where a bigger kids back would push against making for them to be more comfortable as well.
I did recieve this free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Simply Earth Peppermint Oil

Simply Earth Peppermint Oil is a great addition to your oil collection.
Smell is wonderful and very useful. I love to use peppermint oil for headaches. I mix a little with a carrier oil, like coconut oil, and then rub on temples. It takes the headache away quickly.
This oil also works great to help night time breathing congestion. Rub a little on the bottoms of feet before bed or a bit on the chest, don't forget the carrier oil!
Let us not forget that Simply Earth donates a portion of their sells to charity! How awesome is that for a company.

I really enjoyed trying the peppermint oil out and I found it to be comparable to other companies as well.

Check them out at www.simplyearth.Com

Heath & Beauty 101 Apples

Need a facial formula that will slough off dead skin cells, refine pores, and even out your skin tone?  In a small bowl, mix 2 teaspoons of apple juice, 2 teaspoons of red wine, and 2 tbs of ground oatmeal to make a paste.  Spread mixture on your face and throat, let dry for 20 to 30 minutes, and rinse with warm water.

How about an astringent safe enough even for sensitive skin?  Pour the following in a bottle with; 1/2 c apple juice, 4tbsp vodka, 1tbsp of honey, and 1sp of sea salt and shake well.  Apply the solution to your face and neck twice a day with a cotton pad.

Just an added tip, if you have a discolored pan you can boil water and apple peels to remove the discoloration.

Health & Beauty 101 Eggs

Apply egg whites to the lines under your eyes and around your mouth.  As it dries, it temporarily tightens up the skin, making the lines less apparent.

For a simple skin moisturizer, combine 1 egg yolk with 3/4 cup of milk.  Apply it to your face with your fingertips using a circular motion.  Leave it on for about 5 minutes, then rinse.  Store any unused portion in the refrigerator, covered, and use it within a week.

For softening and soothing facial mix 1 egg yolk with 2tbl of honey and 2 tbl of mashed avocado. Apply the mixture to your face and leave on for 30 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry.

To keep your fingernails looking great, beat 1 egg yolk in a small bowl and soak your nails for about 5 minutes.  Rinse and then buff.

Split ends? Mix 1tsp of honey with 2tbl of garlic oil.  Beat in 1 egg yolk.  Covered your hair in the mixture and put a shower cap on.  Wait 30 minutes then rinse and shampoo as normal.

Need a protine enriched conditioner?  Beat 1 egg white until foamy then stir into 5 tbl of plain natural yogurt.  Apply to hair and leave for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Grapevine Studies Review

Grapevine Studies Review

Age:
Pre-K to 8th (See information on levels here.)
Grapevine Studies Review

About: Grapevine Studies is a company that teaches children the Bible through drawing.  I reviewed Old Testament Traceable (ages 3-5). Level 1 (ages 6-8) and Level 2 (ages 8-10).

Grapevine Studies ReviewLevel 1, also doing the traceable, takes you through the Old Testament starting with Adam ending with Jacob. They will learn about creation and all those in between. There are 12 weekly lessons, with 45 daily lessons. Both the level one book and the traceable book are 82 pages long. It comes with the lesson pages, timelines, memory verses, and reviews. You also receive a teachers book. This book comes with lesson notes, timelines, goals and much more in 100 pages.

Grapevine Studies ReviewLevel 2 teaches the beginning of the Old Testament, with stick figure characters from the book of Genesis. The topics learned are creation, the flood, building of the Tower of Babel, and more. By the end of the lessons they will be able to draw the first part of the Old Testament timeline. This book is also 12 weekly lessons with 45 daily lessons. The student book is 64 pages long and a teacher book that is 100 pages long. Both cover the same things that the other books covered.

How we used: We did the daily lessons with all three of my kids. The traceable book is a lifesaver for young kids are maybe those that have a harder time focusing like my son. This was also good in allowing them all to work together learning the same things at their levels. We start the lesson by reading the passage and then we move on to drawing the stick figures, or in the traceable it is already there in gray scale ready to be traced. You go onto the week with memory versus, comprehension questions, and then a little place to write what you need to remember for the week. The level 2 book has some extra memory work of the books of the Bible as well as some vocabulary work. Level 1 also gives extra room to draw. My daughter that I used level 2 with was kind of bummed about this. She is a lefty and uses a lot more more than her sister does. But she made it work with no fuss.

I really liked being able to teach the same thing with each of them but making it so they could excel a bit further for each of their age ranges for the level of books they got.

Be sure to check out the other levels that my crew members reviewed. I think it would help you find a level that would work best for your family.

The Critical Thinking Co. Review

Vendor: The Critical Thinking Co.
Product: Fun-Time Phonics!
Age: Pre-K to 2nd
Price: $39.99
AboutThe Critical Thinking Co. presented me with Fun-Time Phonics! to review. The paperback book is three hundred twenty pages long. It also is reproducible with in your class room, or your children at home. They based the program on the scientific findings of the National Reading Commission. The program focuses on vowel sounds instead of memorization. They use 100 activities in order to teach these skills through listening, thinking, speaking and and reading. There is an introduction that tells you how and why the program works. Throughout the book there is also teaching suggestions to help you along. The 100 activities are broken into four sections. The first section is phonemic awareness, which takes up lessons one through fourteen. This helps the child hear the sounds in a word and focuses on vowels. Section two is alphabetic which is activities fifteen through ninety-four. This teaches the vowels as well as the consonants. Section three is beginning to read which is activities ninety-five through one-hundred. These activities go over matching with pictures to reading first words and two word phrases.  The fourth, and last section, is words I can read. This is just a list of simple words to practice reading.

How we used: I used this with my 7 year old. We have not pushed reading with him because he doesn't do well with memorization. We worked on this Monday through Thursday aiming to complete at least one activity a day. If I knew he got it and he was willing we would try another lesson. Each of the lessons is about 4 pages long. All the pages are fun and colorful to keep attention though. The page gives me the instructions to give and then he would answer the questions. He really enjoyed the fact there was no writing and he could just verbally give me the answers. Sometimes he didn't grasp an activity very well so it was easy to just go back over it without having to erase and start over, or even photocopying the pages before hand.
The words are all CVC words so they will carry onto the next reading program you move into nicely. They are easy words and the activities do a great job leading up to reading them well. I am taking the back pages with the list of words and going to make him a list of his known words so he can get a treat when he learns them all. A nice incentive to completing the book when the time comes.

We loved that this is an all you need kind of reading program. It is also really good for those that hate the extra work of writing. I really think this would have been a great program to start my dyslexic daughter out with. She got so frustrated with the writing in many other programs that we tried. I think this book would be great for homeschoolers, you save a ton getting to use with multiple kids, or even a public school child that needs some extra help. It would be easy for a mom to give a bit of a lesson after school with out taking up so much time.

Ann McCallum Books Review

Price: $16.95 Hardcover $7.95 Paperback
Age: 7-10 years old

About: Eat Your Science Homework is part of a series of Eat your Homework books from Ann McCallum BooksEat Your Science Homework is written by Ann McCallum and beautifully illustrated by Leeza Hernandez. Ann McCallum started her career out as a one room school house teacher in Canada. She is now a high school teacher in Maryland. The book is forty-eight bright and colorful pages long. You may also download a teacher guide to go with it. That download can be found here. There are six different recipes aka the experiments. Those six are as follows; Atomic Popcorn Balls, Density Dressing and Veggie sticks, Invisible Ink Snack Pockets, Loop Whorl and Arch Cookies, Sedimentary Pizza Lasagna and Black Hole Swallow Ups. All of these recipes are science themed. There is also a science review as well as a glossary with vocabulary words. The book makes learning and eating fun for all.

How we used: I went through the book with all three of my kids. They are seven, nine, and ten. The book was colorful and inviting for all the kids. The book starts out with safety tips in the kitchen. Next we went over the scientific method. Each recipe then starts out with information about the science of something, like atoms. This gives the kids a lesson on science and then we go into the food portion to see how that science works in real life. Who doesn't enjoy being able to eat your homework? Some of the recipes were things my kids didn't want to taste but they still enjoyed doing them. Making the popcorn ball atoms was their favorite flavor. We also really enjoyed making the Invisible Ink Snack Pockets. The kids were making pictures to each other. We would spend a day going over the reading part and making sure everyone understood what we were learning. We would then make a list of the supplies we would need so that we could get them to do the experiment the next day. By splitting it into two days I was able to make sure they grasped and retained what we learned and that they were not just rushing through it to get to the food.

I do believe any age would enjoy these. Even if your child is older and already knows the terms in this book they would probably enjoy the hands on portion of it. I also think it is something fun to do as a family. Homeschoolers as well as public schoolers would both benefit from this, just to help see the science in action. I am excited to be able to try the other eating subjects that my other crew members got to review. Be sure to check those reviews out below.

Feet and Leg Pains?

I know most of us parents have days where we are on our feet from the time we wake up until we go down for the night.  I know when I have these times I get the dullest achy pains in my legs and feet.  I have also had this problem when working (I am a stylist) and being on my feet in pretty much one place all day.  Well a few months back I had a man that was talking to me, couldn't believe he was 85, and telling me about all the things he does on a daily basis.  This man is a painter and still goes up and down ladders and works a farm by his self with little help from his wife.  I had to ask him what his secret was, because I am young and still could not even fathom going up and down a ladder all day and not be sore.  He said first of all he has a motto, "As long as I can go I am going to go.  The day I stop will be the day I die."  He said that he has realized the more he does the younger he feels and that when he slows down he starts feeling old.  I was really intrigued by this.  He went on to say that he does not take RX medications either, as he feels they have more negative side affects than positive, he take all natural remedies and vitamins.  I asked him what would help my sore tired legs and feet and with out a pause he said Selenium.   Now I will say I was very skeptical because my feet have hurt me since I was a teen when I would be on them to long.  Well with in a couple weeks of taking this I have no more pains.  It is great, now if I do miss my dose I sure notice.  Now if you read up on this stuff it has a ton of rad things that it helps.  Check it out!

Maestro Classics Review

Maestro Classics Review

Price: $16.98

Age: 4 and up
About: Maestro Classics is an award winning company that produces musical stories for children. They sent me the CD of Peter and the Wolf, but it is also available as an mp3 file. Also included with the CD is a 24 page story book with activities. There is a bio of Sergei Prokofiev, the composer. You can also get a study guide for the CD on their webpage. This could be a fun activity for anyone wanting to expand this to a unit study. The CD runs about 70 mins long as well.

1.       Introduction
2.       Peter and the Wolf (with narration)
3.       About the Composer
4.       A Russian Peter
5.       About the Music
6.       Peter and the Wolf (without narration)
7.       Invitation to Grandfather’s Party
8.       Kalinka

The activity book has information about Russian instruments. The CD was narrated by the composer but also includes the music without the narration.  We started out listening without the narration while we worked on the activity book. The instrument matching helped us see what kind of things we were hearing. This is really nice to have a visual of. Then there was word searches, crossword puzzles, and dot to dot pages. All the pages were fun and colorful, keeps the kids engaged. We then on another day listened to the CD with the narration. The kids loved hearing further about the instruments and their roles in the music. My 10 year old is very into music and practices the guitar and the mandolin, so she really enjoyed learning about some other instruments and hearing the sounds they made.

I love the way this introduces children to classical music in a fun and exciting way.  The CD alone would be great for any family that wants to introduce some classical music into their kids lives. Homeschool families would enjoy it for the same reasons, but also that there is a whole study guide that goes with it that you could turn into a unit study even. There is so much possibility with it. I also think it will make a good calming travel CD for those days we are in the car for long periods of time.

Here you will find the free Peter and the Wolf   curriculum guide with music lessons, and art projects. There is also unit studies with all subjects included. How great of an add on is that? Takes all the leg work out of making this into more teaching studies for the kids. We will be taking the time to make this into a unit study down the road. I knew when getting the review there was some good add on's but I didn't expect this much fun. We really can not wait to dive in further with the learning. I hope you will check it out too.
Be sure to check out what my other crew members said about Peter and the Wolf. Also check out what they had to say about the Nutcracker as well. Then hop on over and see them on the following social media sites:

Koru Naturals Review

Koru Naturals Review

Vendor: Koru Naturals
Products: Skin Clear Cream

Price: Skin Clear Cream $19.20
Manuka Honey Propolis Soap $7.90
Emu Oil Shampoo and Leave-in Conditioner $17.10

Koru Naturals is such a great vendor. They always send great products for the crew to try, and this time was no different. First up is the Skin Clear Cream. It is made from unpasteurized Manuka Honey, pure steam-distilled East Cape Manuka Oil, Kawakawa, Harkeke, Burdock Root, Thyme, and Canadian Aspen Bark. The best thing is there is no parabens, artificial colorants or fragrances in any of their products.  This is good for acne-prone skin.

I have always been prone to acne so I was glad to see this one. I used it as recommended, twice daily. It has made my face clear and very smooth. It had a light scent which was nice and not over powering.

Manuka Honey Propolis Soap is a combination of Manuka Honey and Propolis. This is a moisturizing and skin protecting soap.

We all used this as a family. I kept it in the shower. It really was moisturizing. I love how soft it left every ones skin. I have hypothyroid so I am always dry and itchy and it took that away. My daughter has eczema and she usually flairs up at this time, during season changes, and she has not flared up yet.

Emu Oil Shampoo and Emu Oil Leave-in Conditioner are both made for damaged hair. They have keratin added to help do this. Since keratin is easily washed away with water the spray in leave-in conditioner is perfect. Use daily for the best results, and that is how I used it. It makes you hair easier to comb out for one. My hair is down past my bottom. After using a normal conditioner and rinsing I still have horrible knots. Having a leave in allows the conditioner to get those knots loose as well as repair the hair that is causing the knots. They reduced the amount of frizz my hair hand. If I allow my hair to air dry I can pull off not having to straighten it. Before my hair would be to frizzy and turn into one big rats nest if I did not straighten it to smooth it out.

I think that Koru Natural products are great for everyone. Having a natural product that works great should be in everyone's home. They would make great gifts, you know Christmas is coming up soon! I will bet your friends and family would love to receive these products as well. Their website has so many other products that they make as well. I have been happy with everything that I have tried of theirs. I promise you will not be disappointing.

Be sure to check them out on Social Media. Also see what my other fellow crew members thought of their products, some reviewed different items than I did.

Brookdale House Review

 Brookdale House Review
Vendor: Brookdale House
Price: $22.95 e-book

Brookdale House Review  About: Brookdale House presents Drawing Around the World: USA . This is a 282 page printable e-book that you can use with multiple children.  It is a hands on drawing geography program that is using the Charlotte Mason Method of teaching. It is meant to help children be able to memorize the 50 states and the state capitals. They have a suggested weekly schedule of four days a week for 27 weeks. There are also suggested links to that you can use as well.

Day 1: Introduction to new state for the week. You will complete the state fact table. You will also find and labEl the new state on the dashed black and white mat. Then to finish the day you will draw all states studies thus far.

Day 2: You will find and lable each new state on the dashed, black and white map. Then drawing all the states studied so far.

Day 3: Repeat day two again to help repetitive learning.

Day 4: You will list all states you have learned so far from memory. Then you will once again draw all the states from memory as well.

How we used: We decided to follow the schedule that was laid out for us in the book. We generally only work four days a week anyways leaving Friday for catching up or fun days. So on day one I would make sure to have all the papers printed for the week. I do not have unlimited internet, so instead of using the suggested links for state facts we went to the library and would pick out books that were for the states we were learning about for the week. Plus having the actual books helps be more hands on than looking at the screen. I have a dyslexic nine year old that does better with the books as well. We would then complete the facts page and practice drawing the state. Day two we locate the states on the big map and draw all states learned. Day three is pretty much a review and doing the same as day two. Repetition to help the learning. Then finally for day four we did the list from memory to see what they have learned without looking. Also trying to draw them all without looking and get them in the right place.

Super fun study and my kids loved it. If we had troubles remembering we changed from a four day plan to a five day week to practice them again. I think this would be fun for homeschoolers or not. If your child is interested in the states this gives them the whole outline they need in order to learn them. I know some public schools require you to learn all abbreviations in a lesson and this could help if your child needs further practice. Plus what kid doesn't like to draw and be even more happy when they can draw all the states in the USA. Be sure to give it a look over and just see how your child responds.

Be sure to check them out on social media and my fellow crew members reviews.

Free Spirit!

.
Free spirit!

My middle child is a free spirited child. She has her own sense of style unlike any other. Today she puts her hair in ratty pig tails and two clips on top with no rhyme or reason. When her sister tells her they are messy she pulls the pony tails even tighter and smiles. I hope she always keeps this outlook on herself. She is not a follower and she does not care what people think of her, instead she embraces herself even more. We should all take a lesson from children like her and embrace our own beauty and be ok with ourselves. We are all they greatest in someones eyes, so let those eyes become our own.

Fish Flix Review

FishFlix.com Review no 2

Price: $9.97
FishFlix.com Review no 2

About: When Calls the Heart, Heart of the Family is a movie that you can get through FishFlix.com, FishFlix.com is an online Christian video store. They provide an array of family friendly DVD's and Blue-Ray movies to choose from. When Calls the Heart, Heart of the Family is from the When Calls the Heart series. This is the the third DVD from the second season. The series is based on the When Calls the Heart books that are written by Janette Oke. The series is also played on the Hallmark channel.

The movie is 88 minutes long. The DVD also includes the behind the scenes as well as some interviews with the cast.  The director is Neill Fearnley. Picture and sound quality is excellent.

How we used: Being a family friendly DVD we sat down as a family to watch this. Each night we usually watch a TV show or a movie together as a family to wind down from the day. It helps us do something together, which is nice after busy days. We had not heard of this series before, we do not have the Hallmark Channel, but we were still able to get into the movie and enjoy it. The show is based around a woman named Elizabeth moving to the area. She is the school teacher but takes on the task of helping one of the men in the community by watching his children for a couple days. This is when Jack comes in to help out. The story then continues on about their romance and how it continues from there. There are some twists and turns that keep you interested in it. It was enjoyable to see even out of sequence of the other shows.

We really enjoyed the movie. Though it was about romance it still was kid friendly and nothing that you wouldn't want your child to see or hear.  This was a nice change for once. It is hard to find movies or a show anymore. You get them thinking they will be kid friendly then there are parts that just kind of make your jaw drop. Watching it also made me want to watch the rest of the series to get all caught up on it. The price was really good and comparable to other movie store prices. I think anyone needed a place to trust in buying good family friendly movies then this is the place for them.
Also be sure to check out my crews reviews. Some reviewed the same show as me, while others reviewed some other movies from this company as well. See how they feel about the content of what the site has to offer.
