Schooling in the Kitchen

Schooling in the kitchen means so many things to me.  It can be cooking class, science experiments, and every day tasks.  Last year we learned how to color Easter Eggs.  This is not only a holiday tradition but also some learning.  We learn what dyes are and how they make the white egg turn to another color.  We also learned about mixing colors and what mixes make what color.

Or we learn about static electricity and how you can make it bend water.

  1. Turn your sink on a small stream.
  2. Rub a balloon on your hair.
  3. Slowly move balloon towards running water.
  4. Watch the balloon "push" the water away making it bend.

How do YOU teach in the kitchen?
